Low and wide, this machine sweeps a wide swathe, reaching all the way under low hanging branches. The nuts are swept in to a central windrow straddled by the machine, making it much easier for the laborious task of gathering.
The sweeper, attached to the front 3 point linkage on the Carrero orchard tractor and powered by its hydraulics, provides good visibility and manoeuverability for the operator. Its light weight and balloon tyres minimise soil compaction, and the rotating reels “float” on castors, enabling them to follow uneven ground closely.
Note the curved rubber blades which have a “scooping” & “flicking” action, which is particularly effective in gently dislodging nuts, whether they be walnuts, chestnuts, macadamia nuts, etc..
“Thinking outside the square pays off, but don’t neglect the inside. A round peg in a square hole is often a good solution.”
